Successful market launch of the
Larssen 704 sheet piling section

The Hoesch Spundwand und Profil GmbH, certified in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001, has created the conditions for producing modern, economical sheet pile sections by means of extensive modernisation of the rolling mill and finishing shop. In addition to a considerable increase in productivity, the investment made in two additional roll stands in 2002 as well as the reinforcement of the three existing stands will make it possible to roll far more economical sections due to semicontinuous operation during the last three reduction passes.

Following the Larssen 703 section, the Larssen 704 section has now been successfully launched on the market as a second section of the 700 mm wide Larssen section series. The initial application took place almost simultaneously with the building projects

  • Extension of the flood protection in Illerzell/Germany as a cut-off wall
  • · Construction of a bulkhead on the Ermidas railway line to Funcheira in Portugal
  • · Building of various foundation ditches in Venice, Campagna and Silea in Italy

The section can be rolled on and rolled off by 0.5 mm just like all Larssen sections of the Hoesch Spunwand und Profil GmbH in order to adjust optimally to the static requirements. The previous building projects and pile-driving tests confirm extremely good pile-driving characteristics with sheet pile lengths of up to 16.00 m.

The advantages of the 700 Larssen series
  • More economically viable compared with 500 and 600 mm wide sections
  • Less assembly time due to the reduced number of sheet piles required
  • Improved tightness because of fewer sheet interlocks per running meter of wall
  • Good pile-driving characteristics
  • Reduction of the coating area

In spring 2003, a further section with a width of 700 mm was added to the section series.
